RTO Form 33: Stepwise Guide To Fill It And Documents Needed

R

Vehicle owners can sometimes change their address and move their car from one location to another. If this move is within the same state, you can submit an RTO Form 33 to indicate the change of address.

The registration authority receives the new address entered on the registration certificate. You will need a duplicate of this form if your vehicle is under a hire-purchase, lease, or mortgage agreement.

The RTO office sends a copy of the document to the funder and the registration authority (from whose jurisdiction you have transferred the car) by registered mail, acknowledging the receipt.

Documents Needed

  1. Registration Certificate of the concerned automobile/vehicle.
  2. Identity Proof of the registered owner.
  3. Address Proof of the registered owner.
  4. Insurance Certificate of the automobile/vehicle.

How TO Fill RTO Form 33

The RTO Form 33 consists of three parts. The first section contains the applicant’s data, the second part is the sponsor’s consent to change address, and the third part is an official confirmation of this procedure.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to fill out Form 33.

Step 1: In the upper left corner of Form 33, enter the registration authority’s name under whose jurisdiction you wish to register the new address.

Step 2: In the blanks below, fill in your name, your father’s name, and the previous address listed on the registration certificate. In this field, married Indian women can also write their husband’s name instead of their father’s name.

Step 3: Now, write the vehicle number and indicate if you no longer live at your previous address or if you no longer have business at the address given in the RC.

Step 4: In the field below, provide the date that this change of address took effect.

Step 5: Enter the applicant’s current address as shown on the proof attached to the form.

Step 6: If your vehicle has a contract of sale, lease, or mortgage, provide it along with the name and full address of the finance company.

Step 7: At the end of section 1, the vehicle owner of record places their signature or fingerprint along with the date.

Step 8: The second part of Form 33 is the funder’s approval to change the address. If the financing company does not approve the change of address in the registration certificate, it must state this with good reasons. The funder also signs and dates Form 33.

Step 9: The last section of the application contains an official acknowledgment. Here, the representative of the registration authority enters the file number and the address of the RTO. The officer will also sign and date this part and write down the funder’s name and the registration authority.

The RTO sends this confirmation by registered mail to the funder and the registration authority (from whose jurisdiction the car’s being removed).

Finally, the financier and the vehicle’s registered owner place their sample signatures in the final gaps.
